The Panasonic EW3153W Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor with Wireless Display is the latest entry in Panasonic’s excellent line of high quality home blood pressure monitors and is currently the only wireless monitor of its type on the market. In the past, Panasonic has produced some excellent home BP monitors; so, this is a product I have anxiously awaited.
The Panasonic EW3153W is a two piece monitoring system (the table based cuff and the display unit) that does not use a cord or tube to connect the two pieces. Rather than using a cord or hose between the two pieces of the monitor, the EW3153W transmits data from the cuff unit to the display wirelessly. This makes using the unit easier and more convenient to use and helps to avoid tangled lines or messy cables.
Advantages of the Panasonic EW3153W Blood Pressure Monitor
Wireless Display Unit
The EW3153W’s use of wireless technology makes using a blood pressure monitor easier than ever. An infrared signal is used to transmit data wirelessly from the cuff unit to the display. This allows you to place the display almost anywhere that is convenient for you (as long as it is not too far away from the cuff unit). The display unit is small enough that it easily fits in a large pocket or your bag, so that you can take it to your doctor's office to review your blood pressure readings.
Morning and Evening Average Systolic Comparison
The Panasonic EW3153W also detects Morning Hypertension, which many studies have found is a good indicator that a person may be at risk for heart attack or stroke. The EW3153W also allows you to view averages for morning BP readings as well as for tests taken in the evening, so that you will have a better understanding of how your blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day. The unit can even display both averages simultaneously to show you how much of a difference (if any) there is and help you determine your vulnerability due to Early Morning Hypertension.
Two Users – One BP Monitor
When it comes to BP reading storage, the EW3153W has you covered and can store the last 90 BP readings for two individual users (180 total). Being dual user capable only makes the Panasonic EW3153W that much more of a value.
Irregular Heartbeat Detection
The Panasonic EW3153W Blood Pressure Monitor also detects Irregular Heartbeat (or Irregular Pulse as Panasonic calls it). Anomalies or irregularities in heartbeat or pulse could lead to arrhythmia related health issues and need to be addressed as soon as possible.
Other Features of the Panasonic EW3153W
The Panasonic EW3153W also provides integrated movement detection, which will let you know if the monitor is bumped or moved while you take your blood pressure. Since bumping or moving the machine during testing can skew the results, the machine detects movement and informs you to retest.
Using results that can be displayed in three distinct colors, the EW3153W will quickly inform you if your BP results are in the Hypertension, Pre-Hypertension or Normal range. The unit also has a very large LCD screen that is bright and easy to read as well as convenient one touch operation. Finally, this BP monitor comes with an AC adapter and even ships with a six AA alkaline batteries (nice touch).
One Thing We Didn’t Like So Much about the Panasonic EW3153W Bllod Pressure Monitor
While an excellent monitor, there is a potential down side – the occasional need to buy batteries - so no downside at all really. It's a great bit of kit. But, an average battery life of about 3000 uses will mean that battery purchases will be rare. Regardless, it is still an excellent BP monitor, and I highly recommend it.
Why are my computer speakers tapping?
It started about a week ago. Nothing has been relocated; it's exactly as it's been for 7 months with the wireless n adapter, LCD monitor, phone. I bought new speakers; same thing. The plug isn't loose. I have re-installed windows xp, by only updateing, recently. Dell Opitplex gx520, 3.4....2g ram....500g hd.
Well Dre, since you just about removed all the possible hardware culprits, try reinstalling the factoiry audio driver.

Cerevo Live Shell with Contour+ hands-on (video) (Engadget)
Contour and Cerevo are teaming up this week at CES to release the Cerevo Live
Shell accessory for HD camcorders enabling high-quality automatic upload and
streaming to UStream from any HD video source -- in this case, the Contour+.
The Live Shell is simplistic in design, featuring a small LCD screen with
icons for useful indicators, an HDMI input, line-in port, microphone input,
composite video input as well as a choice of Ethernet port or built-in WiFi
for connectivity. It can run off three AA batteries, giving up to three hours
of usage or can be used with the accompanied AC adapter for all-day use. The
Cerevo Live Shell also comes with its own dedicated web-based control screen
called the "Dashboard," which allows you to customize the settings on the
device (volume, video quality, etc.) via personal computer or smartphone.
The overall package is portable enough to tag along with the Contour+ and
other HD action cams, however, we can't really see much use considering that
WiFi (and certainly Ethernet connectivity) can be pretty scarce while carving
some narly pow on a mountain or biking through some trails. The duo is well
