May 04, 2006You’ll notice that many small consulting firms use first person plural in the content of their website. What you’ll also find is that these consulting firms consist of only one person. While it is a bit intimidating to be the sole proprietor of an operation, it should not be something that you should feel the need to hide. We may think that our clients expect us to be the head of a skilled group of highly paid consultants, but we should be confident in our abilities as a single entity, able to play the role of salesman, marketer, manager, designer, and developer.
So if you are a one man (or woman) operation, let the world know up front that is the case, and be proud of it. Not many people have the ability to strike out on their own and embrace the entrepreneurial spirit. So out with the “we”, in with the “I”.
