Different Types of Power Inverters
The purpose of this article is to discuss the role of a solar power inverter in your home solar system, as well as issues pertaining to different types of inverters, and how to solve some common problems associated with them.
In the majority of cases, home solar systems involve solar panels charging batteries, with the batteries then supplying electricity to appliances within the home. This ensures that power is available at night, when the solar panels themselves aren’t producing. Of the two varieties of electricity, solar panels and batteries both deal with Direct Current (DC). Outlets in the home, meanwhile, use Alternating Current (AC) electricity. Solar power inverters handle the task of converting the DC electricity to AC.
Currently, there are both Modified Sine Wave (MSW) and True Sine Wave (TSW) inverters available. Of the two, MSW inverters are the more limited type, as they only convert DC electricity into the simplest form of AC power. Some types of appliances don’t work well with MSW inverters. For example, stereo equipment may produce an irritating hum when used with MSW inverters. TSW inverters don’t suffer from these issues, and so they are generally the preferred choice for homeowners.
Maintaining an inverter is no problem provided you pay attention to the following. The inverter should be close to the batteries, but not actually in the same box. The wire between the batteries and the inverter needs to be of sufficient size. The necessary size will probably be listed in the inverter instructions. A fuse is a must for all wires to and from the inverter. Make sure that the inverter isn’t in a spot where it will be exposed to moisture or very high temperatures.
Solar power inverters are known to encounter a couple of common issues. The first issue is RF interference. When they’re working, all inverters give off some radio noise. Radio receivers should be placed as far away from the inverter as possible. Another solution is to switch to a battery powered radio, the batteries for which can be recharged at any time through the solar power system.
The other problem is a lot less obvious: phantom loads. Most modern electronic devices, including televisions, continue to use a small amount of electricity even while they’re turned off. Since they’re constantly using electricity, these devices keep inverters from going to sleep. The inverters then begin contributing to the problem of wasted power, as they’re always in active mode. If you’re able to hook up the devices responsible for the phantom loads to a power strip with an on/off switch, you can address this problem effectively. This will keep the devices from draining power from your system while the power strip is turned off.

If I order all of these things, what will I be missing if I try to assemble it all together?
As a side note, I would drop windows XP. Windows 7 will be released this fall and the release candidate version will be usable through march of next year.
Edit: for free.

It looks like you are building a gaming computer, and windows xp only supports DirectX 9. This will leave you unable to play the latest DX10 games as well as the upcoming DirectX 11 games.
